Yule Tree

For the first time in a few years we’ve put the tree and decorations up.  We’re feeling pretty good and one of the signs of that is Yule Tree!

Also, this is the first live tree that Chelsea and I have bought together (Also as adults, but those are simultaneous(Nested Parentheses note, I totally nailed the spelling of simultaneous.  I had to look up to see if I had it spelled correctly and I did!))

So here are some pics I took and played with, (Because I’m Michael, that is what I do)

First a regular picture with lights on:

Tree Lights on.

Next we have it with lights off:

Tree lights off.

Now we get into some HDR.  First is with lights on:

HDR tree lights on.

And last we have HDR with lights off:

HDR tree lights off.

Sunday

Today was overall a good day.
Went to see moneyball, cleaned the apartment, had a screwup that left everyone unhappy. But we had neighbors over and that went well so the day ended well.

I’m grateful for nice neighbors.
I’m grateful that the movie theater is across the street.
I’m grateful our apartment seems like a home now.
I’m grateful we get to buy lingerie and weights now.

A couple of pictures, and grateful

We went on a bike ride yesterday and this is what we saw:

Hidden Falls, Saint Paul, Minnesota

And apparently, Reck…

A beautiful day for a bike ride.  8 miles.  Nice.

Today was another beautiful day.
My gratefuls will probably tell my day.

Today I am grateful for:

  • A beautiful day to be outside and read
  • Impromptu naps outside
  • Grilling with friends and neighbors
  • Meeting new people
  • A day that was lazy and long and fulfilling

New phone (kinda)

So I’ve rommed my phone yet again. Even though I still have swype, i decided to try SwiftKey. I have to admit, I’m really liking this keyboard. So much so that I’m coming up with excuses to type. Like this blog.

Things are looking up. I’m really digging this law of attraction stuff. I’ve gotten it to work in small ways already. I’ve also been able to more firmly articulate what it is I want out of life.

There are four things that I’ve really been focusing on.
First are the things I want to do.
I want to co-found a Sudbury Valley School and have some, but not a lot of influence over it.
I also want to co-found a sustainable building /education company.

And then there are are the things that I want.

I want a beautiful home on summit (I know, redundant isn’t it?), and a Tesla roadster.

The main thing is to concentrate on the feeling of having these things.

That’s it for this lengthy post on the way to work 🙂

For Chelsea

Not exactly our situation, but made me think of us:

Im loving living every single day
but sometimes I feel sore
I hope to find a little peace of mind
and I just want to know

chorus
and two can hear those tiny broken hearts
and what are we to be
where is home on the milkyway of stars
I dry my eyes again
in my dreams I’m not so far away from home
what am I in a world so far away from home
all my life, all the time so far away from home
without you I will be so far away from home

if we could make it through the darkest night
we have a brighter day (we have a brighter day)
the world I see beyond your pretty eyes makes me want to stay (you make me wanna stay)

chorus
and two can hear those tiny broken hearts
and what are we to be
where is home on the milkyway of stars
I dry my eyes again
in my dreams I’m not so far away from home
what am I in a world so far away from home
all my life, all the time so far away from home
without you I will be so far away from home

I count on you no matter what they say
cause love can find it’s time
I hope to be a part of you again
baby let us try

chorus

and two can hear those tiny broken hearts
and what are we to be (what are we to be)
where is home on the milkyway of stars (milkyway of stars)
I dry my eyes again (dry my eyes)
in my dreams I’m not so far away from home (far away from home)
what am I in a world so far away from home (far away)
all my life, all the time so far away from home (far away from home)
without you I will be so far away from home

in my dreams I’m not so far away from home
what am I in a world so far away from home
all my life, all the time so far away from home
without you I will be so far away from home

Our bed.

Last night in our comfy bed. I can sleep anywhere (side effect of growing up in lots of foster homes) but it won’t be near as comfy as our air mattress.

And it won’t have my favorite person in the world in it…

I’m going to miss you terribly, Chelsea.

Packing

I’ve started packing. Well let me rephrase that. I’ve started the packing of stuff I’m taking with me to MN.
Chelsea and I have been packing up the house for the last week or so.
But now its even more final.

I’m going to miss our friends. But even more than that, I’ll miss Chelsea. I know we’ve done this before, but it doesn’t make it fun.

I am looking forward to the new job though, that and I enjoy telling people that I work for American Public Media / Minnesota Public Radio.

So, I found a new setting on my camera that makes it easier to take HDR pics.  So without further ado, HDR Katy!

New Blog Design gets New Pics

As promised here are some new pics to go with the new blog design.  I have a lot more pics than this, but this is what I have after doing HDR magic.

First four are free hand (no tripod) so may be a tad blurry…

And the next four are from July 4th weekend, using a table and a stick for a tripod :).
